April Fool's - 1st day of Spectacles Week
My 1st day wearing specs to work in this office ever! Pleasantly surprised by the comments and feedback from my colleagues from all departments. Overall comment is that I look ok in specs, look more wise and intelligent. Hahaha. Kinda funny when I heard that - My 1st reaction was "you mean I normally look quite dumb?" :p
Felt different and a little self conscious when I 1st reached office but I soon got used to it. Of coz, the wonderful feedback made everything else so much better. Thanks to everyone who complimented me in some way or other! Came home in a light and happy mood.
And that is til I turned on the TV and watched the fundraising show for Japan's earthquake on 11 March 2011. Cried when watching the footage of the aftermath of the whole event, the sadness of the people who have lost their family and friends. It's been almost a month since it happened. I know there are people who think that this is karma for Japan coz of the World War. But that was years ago. Many generations have passed and should we really be bearing such grudges?
To each his own. I choose to not think that way but to empathize them. Their strength and courage in such an ordeal is what we should learn. There has been no reports of theft, fights or violence in any way since the earthquake happened. Shows how much love and respect they have for one another, for their country. :) Wonder if we can ever be so united as a country.
The other event that made me sad today is that today marks the 8th year of death of Leslie Cheung. An artiste who makes me melt when he sings. 1 of the 1st Asian singers who dared to openly declare he is gay. He passed away the same way my mummy did.. When I 1st heard the news, I thought it was an April Fool's joke.. But it wasn't. He suffered from depression for over a year and couldn't take it anymore. I hope he's happier wherever he is now.
Cherish and treasure everything and everyone my dear friends.. Life is short..
