my thailand trip!
i'm back!! from hot n sunny bangkok, thailand. overall, i had lots of fun n lots of walking too.
Day 1 (18/10)flight was at 8.35am which meant that we had to reach the airport by 6.35am. i had to wake up at 5am jus to bathe n get ready. gave anne a morning call n checked on stef to see if she managed to wake up. stef was leaving her house by then! my god!! she sure woke up early. met at the airport n blur stef went to terminal 2 instead of terminal 1. luckily i called her, else goodness knows how long she'll be there for.
her bf, ron, came with her n it was the 1st time i met him. he's quite an ok guy.. can joke around with which was good. at least he's not the quiet quiet kind. anne reached at about 7 odd but it was ok coz we weren't able to check in yet anyway. after settling the checking in stuff, we went to get coffee. seeing ron there made me kinda sad as tom wasn't around by my side n sending me off. :(
anyway, it was time for us to leave n we chatted all the way to bangkok. was nice catching up on anything n everything. n we found out that sonia n stanley are engaged already! congrats both! seems like he proposed to her on her bday. kinda sweet n romantic. i won't wanna get married so young though.. hehe. :p
took a cab to the ambassador hotel at sukhumvit road. coincidentally, ali was on his way to the internet cafe so he helped us check in. was great seeing him again after so long! god, miss that guy loads! went for lunch at chitlom central food court which was like marche jus that it was on the top floor of a building and it looked like a high class restaurant. it was a really cool place! went shopping after that. spent a lot of money that afternoon itself!! wanted to walk to other shopping centres but was lost along the way due to a wrong turn. haha. was walking around trying to find our way. had aching feet after that. :)
went back to the hotel to put down our victory items n took a bath before heading to suam lum night market for dinner. that place was cool! with lots of stuff that u can buy. i controlled myself n did not buy anything at all that nite due to overspending in the afternoon. haha. after that, we jus headed back to the hotel for another bath n hit the sack.
Day 2 (19/10)woke up at 8.30am bangkok (BKK) time (9.30am singapore (SG) time) for the buffet breakfast. went to mahboonkrong aka mbk. it's a super huge place where u can buy lots of stuff! i spent almost 6000 baht at that place itself coz there were so many cool n nice stuff. bought loads of stuff for tom from that place. bought souvenirs for colleagues n family as well. overspent by a lot jus buying everything!
had lunch at mbk foodcourt. i didn't have the appetite so decided to skip lunch. went for more shopping at siam area after lunch. ali n irvin took a break n went to a cafe called 'boost up' to wait for us. i had to control myself while we were there but i still bought a few tops for very good prices. hehe. headed to a restaurant which had kobe beef for dinner. food was good n nice. plan to go 'bed supper club' was cancelled as it was getting late. ali was kinda disappointed that he missed the model show there though. no choice.. postponed the trip to the next day.
felt so dead that nite. legs were aching n killing me! i took a bath n went downstairs to the internet cafe to chat with my dear for an hour. by the time i went back to the room, anne, irvin n ali had gone out for drinks n only stef was left in the room. they came back after a while n we went to the guys' room to play bridge. headed to bed at about 2am bkk time (3am sg time)..
Day 3 (20/10)it was sightseeing day! we woke up at 9am bkk time (8am sg time) for our buffet breakfast. headed to 'the grand palace' to look at the palaces and stuff. it was really beautiful! i can't imagine how long it took them to build everything. it's something that u definitely won't get to see in singapore. it was an eye-opener for me. that place was huge n every palace was gorgeous! i liked the place a lot!
we took a ferry to wat arun to look at another palace. if i'm not wrong, i think it's the place where jolin tsai filmed the mtv for her song which depicted her as a princess. took the ferry back n went to chinatown for sightseeing but 1st we headed to a temple to look at the golden buddha. it was nice! i prayed for the health of my whole family. :)
after that, it was chinatown time! it was fascinating that the alleys were so narrow n yet, motorbikes n mobile vendors pushing their carts kept coming thro.. was dangerous but really amazing. we walked around quite a bit n decided to go for dinner as we didn't have lunch though we bought some roadside food to try. dinner was at a chinese restaurant where irvin ordered sharks' fin n i got to try a bit. i ordered birds' nest. hehe. realised that people in thailand eat really sweet stuff! everything is so sweet, especially drinks. luckily the birds' nest was ok. :p
headed back to the hotel after that n took a quick shower. proceeded to 'bed supper club'. it was quite near to our hotel so we walked there. the place is what u'll definitely not see/find in singapore. there are real beds in the club!! and very very confortable sofas too!! wish that we have the same club in singapore. i'll defintely head there every weekend! i had a headache at that time n i fell asleep in the club! unbelievable but true. it was so comfortable! woke up feeling much better n started to enjoy myself. there's a cute guy working at the place n he was wearing a shirt that said 'i'm not trying to seduce you'. haha. got another cute guy who was caucasian n looked like ryan from 'the bachelorette'. haha. went back to the hotel after it closed at 1am. bathed n plonked on the bed.. sleeping time!!
Day 4 (21/10)woke up at 9am bkk time (8am sg time) for our buffet breakfast again. stef didn't join us as she wanted to sleep in. the rest of us headed off for a thai massage. original place that we intended to go to wasn't open yet so we tried another place a few streets down. felt good after that! legs weren't hurting that much. hehe. back to the hotel after that as jackie had arrived with his gf, joscelin.
took a bath n went for lunch at siam. went our separate ways after that as it was free n easy day. basically, it was only stef n i who went separately to shop as the rest were still together. i managed to find quite a number of stuff that i really liked for myself, including a pair of pants n a top that i was eyeing on the 19th but didn't buy. hehe. bought more stuff for my beloved darling n spent more money (luckily i borrowed from anne beofre we left the hotel). haha.
anyway, stef n i being the blur queens that we are.. took the wrong train. luckily we realised it after 2 stops. went to the opposite side of the station to take the train back to our hotel. dropped our shopping stuff down n went to 'cabbages n condoms' for dinner. saw the place on tv before n it's a really nice place! had a great dinner n went back to the hotel.
stef decided to go walk around to shop for more stuff while i had to get back to the hotel for a shower n to rest my tired feet. while bathing, jackie's friend, david, who has been staying in bangkok for very long asked us out for drinks at a street called 'royal city avenue' aka rca which was like mohd sultan of singapore except for the fact that the pubs and clubs there are way much better than what we have here. we went to a club called 'flix' which was joined with another club 'slim'. the place was huge!!! it was also the 1st time that i go drinking n i don't have to lift a finger to take ice or pour drinks as there were permanently at least 1 waiter standing beside our table. reason being: david's gf, ice, is the daughter of a general in thailand. woah! but this girl has got no airs n arrogance which is really cool! :)
david broke the bottle neck n gave me the ball bearing, telling me that there is a myth in thailand that if i collect 9 of the ball bearings n put it above my head where i sleep, i'll have good luck forever. not really sure but i'll start collecting the ball bearings from now on jus to try it out. hehe. left the place at 1+ am bkk time (2+ am sg time). headed back to hotel n i was so dead tired that i decided not to bathe n jus knocked out. fell asleep almost immediately once my head touched the pillow.
Day 5 (22/10)woke up at 9.30am bkk time (10.30am sg time) for buffet breakfast. getting later n later coz we're sleeping later n later. haha. stef had to pack up n do last min shopping as she was flying back at 4pm while we proceeded to chatuchak market which is open only on weekends between 10am to 6pm if i'm not wrong. the place is like a market place but it was gigantic!!! u can literally be lost in the place n they sell all sorts of things! they even have animals on sale there. it was a really hot day, plus the fact that it was so crowded that it was human heat!
i had a lot of fun as i really get to see all sorts of things! a true eye-opener! i was in total awe!! bought some really nice tealight candle holders that were a beauty n real expensive in singapore. bought the last few stuff that i had to get for my sweetheart as well as my family. legs felt so tired when we reached the hotel. bathed n ali wanted to get another thai massage before dinner so anne n i joined him. went to the original massage place that we wanted to go the day before. this was even better than the previous day's! felt so fantastic by the time we came out from the place.
went for dinner with jackie n gf, david n gf n another girl called susan who was the sister of their friend. had dinner at a seafood restaurant called 'guang seafood' beside swissotel. they had these huge prawns called mantis shrimps (2 for 1200baht!) and also horseshoe crabs. david frequents the place a lot n can order without looking at the menu. we had the mantis shrimps, tom yam soup, seafood fried rice, grilled fish, grilled prawns, n goose feet noodles. the whole meal was 3000 over baht! irvin n ali paid for the meal as david was the one paying most of the time.
david insisted that we go to rca again to try another club called 'threesome' as they were having a promotion where u can get 2 bottles of black labels for 2000 baht. we were actually very tired but ali was keen on going as it was our last nite in thailand n he didn't have the chance to catch up with jackie so it was his last chance. went there n ali got drunk!! haha. 1st time i see him drunk. irvin, anne n i went back to the hotel at about 1.30am bkk time (2.30am sg time) as we were really tired n we had to pack our stuff. david sent ali back after that. by the time i finished packing n drifted to dreamland, it was almost 3am bkk time (4am sg time).
Day 6 (23/10)today was the last n final day of our trip. felt a bit sad as my holiday was about to end n ali would be going back to dubai.. went for breakfast at about 10am bkk time (11am sg time). 2 out of 3 lifts were spoilt n we had to walk down the stairs to go for our breakfast. after breakfast, i wanted to go back to the room 1st to bathe n anne n irvin went to settle checking out. lifts were still spoilt so i decided to climb up the stairs, only to find out that it can't be opened from inside!! sighz.. had to climb down stairs again n took the lift up. had a nice long bath n finished packing up the stuff.
finished the checking out stuff n anne, irvin n i went to mbk for last minute shopping n buying of dried food to bring back. ali met a supplier so we set a time to meet at mister donut, a cafe there. jackie, joscelin, david n ice came to meet us for the last time before we left. we went back to the hotel to check out the guys' room n left our luggage at the concierge while we went to get lunch at the food court of robinsons. spent 2 hours there. took the hotel limo to the airport where ali checked in 1st as his flight was at 6pm bkk time whilst ours was at 7.40pm bkk time. sat around n chatted for a while more before ali boarded.
was kinda sad when ali left. wonder how long it'll be before i get to see him again. was also sad to be heading back to singapore where i know i'll have to start work in a day's time. i really enjoyed my stay in bangkok a lot n i had a great time with everybody. thanx to anne, irvin, ali n stef for the great company n the great fun that i had!
ali, come to singapore soon k?? will be waiting to the next time that i get to see u again! :)
holiday~
everything's set for my trip tomorrow except for the fact that i have yet to pack. yes, i'm leaving for the airport at 6am tomorrow morning n here i am, still feeling lazy to pack n i've to head back to the office in a while! god!! i'm real lazy. hope i remember to bring everything that i need or i'm screwed!
finally on leave n i don't have to be back in the office for 6 working days. it feels good to know that fact. trust me. after i'm back from my hols, i will no longer be doing what i'm doing now. it will be back to the days of doing admin stuff.. which i don't really enjoy n fancy but have got no choice. boss told me to wait til end of this year when she'll look at the portfolios n maybe rotate or change amongst ourselves. i've got another 2 whole months of doing admin stuff again. gets pretty upsetting but that's life i guess. will jus have to wait and see what happens. so for the next 2 months, life will be easy for me again. i'll be back to the days where i don't have much to do n i can buy coffee in the afternoons.
never knew how much i would miss my dearest bf til recently. i cried twice!! sighz.. getting emotional.. but it's the 1st time that i'll be away from him n we're separated by distance.. n we can't call or msg each other so often. seems like we've been together for so long and it's almost daily that i'm so used to be with him day in n out that i feel lonely going on a trip without him. i know that i'm supposed to enjoy my trip but i also know that my mind will keep coming back to him. well, that will only mean that he'll be getting lots of prezzies from me. hehe.
1st trip out of singapore on my own with friends, not with family. my entire family is more nervous than me that they keep calling me or messaging me to be careful. hehe. thanx for the concern! i'll take care of myself. not to worry. n i'll definitely buy lots of stuff back for everyone. :) sounds as if i'm so loaded with money n the things r dirt cheap. haha. nah... i'll make a balance of what i buy n control myself from spending too much.
starting to feel kinda excited about the trip. it's really a 1st for me, to be travelling with friends n i've never been to thailand! wonder if i'll be able to sleep tonite. :p hehe.
k.. time to take my bath n head on to the office. gotta reach there by lunch time.. :) will update when i'm back from my trip~!
