Laugh at Me!

Ok, this is gonna be a very random and stupid post for all of u to laugh at me. :) 1 week into my new role, I am already handling a few things on my own - 1 of them is to call customers thro a machine to inform them on the settlement. Sounds simple? Yeah, kinda. So how this machine works is that we type a conversation to each other like MSN. The only difference is that the other party can see what u type as u type (think typewriter!) and there is no way u can delete or backspace what u typed. Getting more interesting?? So how we let the other party know that we type wrongly is to put EEEE and they will know that the word u jus typed is wrong. So now, here comes the story. I was doing my usual calling and talking to Irene at the same time. Customer answered the "call" and I was supposed to type "I BUY" but I dunno why my brain kept thinking of selling so I typed "I SE...". From the above way of typing, u'll know that I should continue with SEEEEEE but d...

Unexpected

Had a huge huge fight with Eeyore on Friday nite. It was ugly with doors slamming in each other's faces, screaming and shouting vulgarities at each other. Really ugly.. Finally got my point through and I guess we made up. Not a pretty sight, yes, but at least it's ok now. Went back to KL on Saturday morning to attend a wedding of someone we both don't know. At the wedding reception, Eeyore shocked me by telling me something that I totally didn't expect. Apparently, his mum has been asking him a question sporadically from Chinese New Year til now - when he will marry me. I was in awe! It was soooo unexpected and I really didn't see it coming! I mean, I really never would have thought his mum would ask him that! It's.. unbelievable even til now. Don't ask me why, but I really really really wasn't anticipating that! I know my family has been asking me that question a gazillion times so why is it so shocking now that his mum asked? I guess it's coz I har...

New Role!

I'm supposed to be studying right now but can't concentrate! I'm so screwed.. Sighz.. Started work at my new department since yesterday. Overall it's quite ok. The guys are nice to me and I know quite a few people on the floor so it's been quite alright. :) Traders generally hate Ops people coz they think that Ops folks ask too many questions & they're really happy that I'm there now to resolve all these questions on their behalf. Haha. But, my system accesses need to be up and running before I can help them. I have a weird life now. I start work at 7.30am, go out to buy lunch at 11.15am and eat at my desk. Then I head home at 5.30pm & be hungry til about 8 or 9pm coz I wait for Eeyore to have dinner. :( Think I can't wait for Eeyore for dinner too often coz I get hungry by 6+ 7pm these days. Sigh... Anyway, my mentor is quite nice to me. He's written quite a few notes for me on the spot to study. Though it's quite pressurizing and that b...

3 Years - Enraged!

Today marks my 3rd year in this department, my 5th year in this company. But today was not a good day. I was soooo pissed off that I felt my blood pressure rise to a level where I was worried that I might have a heart attack anytime soon. Yes, I was that enraged! In my company, there's the unwritten rule whereby anyone who wants to apply for an internal transfer needs to be with the same department for 2 years. And if you managed to get the job, you are required to serve 2 months notice. Which is what I am doing now. Yes, I know the department is freaking shorthanded. But that doesn't mean that I have to be the sacrificial lamb so that others can get their transfer right? I KNOW I AM DISPENSABLE BUT PLS SHOW ME SOME RESPECT! So what if the other transferee is referred and recommended by others? So what if the boss of the other transferee at the other department is your good friend? DOES THAT MEAN I CAN BE COMPROMISED?? EVER WONDERED HOW I WILL FEEL???? I guess not right??!!!! ...

Happy Mother's Day 2010

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, including mine! The moment I woke up, I told Eeyore, it's been 20 years and still counting. I tried my hardest not to think about it.. But during dinner, the tables on both my left and right were celebrating Mother's Day. And Eeyore wanted to call his mum.. What about me?? I miss my mummy.. I wish I could call her too or celebrate with Mother's Day with her. I've never had a chance to do it.. She left me when I was 8 - too young for any celebration, not to mention, any celebration in future.. The time spent together has been too short. I miss u, terribly..

Happy 59th Bday Daddy!

Was reading back on some old posts dated 2 years ago and I realised that I used to blog every day!!! Now, I hardly blog.. I think I should start doing it again. :) Thinking of starting another blog as well - to write about more general topics that aren't about myself. Will see how things go.. Anyway, thought of writing today coz it's my dad's bday tomorrow. Happy 59th Bday Daddy!! As I said earlier, I was reading thro my old posts 2 years ago - which means, when Dad was hospitalised. I read 2 entries, felt myself tearing in the office and I had to move on to posts after March. I can't do it.. I can't read my old posts without crying. Out of the 2 posts, 1 of them was when I was at the airport before flying to Sydney and before Daddy was hospitalised. It was written at the airport and he had jus dropped me off. It was nearing Xmas time and he hinted that he wanted a credit card. In my blog post, I wrote that I would apply for a sup card for him, as Xmas pressie. That...

Dilemma

Sometimes I'm happy to be leaving the dept. Sometimes, I'm sad to go. I dunno. Life is full of dilemmas and irony. This dept has been a good learning ground. Friendships were forged in my 5 years of being in Ops. I've had lots of close friends in these 5 years, some of whom are still with the bank, most of whom are already working somewhere else. I'll really miss the friends I've made. But sometimes it's hard to differentiate between friends and colleagues. At work, people behave differently. But as friends, we've had lots of fun and laughter. We've shared a lot of ups and downs. I can look forward now. It's time to move on.. As long as we're friends, we'll always be friends. :)
