Bingjie's Wedding - 03 June 2012

Been a while since my last post. Have been busy the last couple of weeks helping with the preparations for Bingjie's wedding. :) Sooo happy for David and her and that the whole wedding went well. Some background: David is a pole vault coach and Bingjie (known to others as Rachel) is our Singapore female pole vaulter.

It's the 1st ever indoor pole vaulting wedding event where there was a wonderful display of pole vaulting at Chijmes. Woke up with a horribly sore throat on Saturday morning. :( Booooohoooo! Spent Saturday morning with Bee Ling, Stacy and Bingjie going for brunch at Antoinette Palais Renaissance followed by manicure and pedicure at Juup Nails Somerset.

at Antoinette

Tai Tai Nails!

Thank God Eeyore was around and a great help the whole time! He came by coz Stacy and Bingjie had to go to Far East to do nails extension and manicure. Eeypre came by to loan the girls his car while he and I took Bingjie's car to Chijmes to offload most of the stuff and to head to Bendemeer for the bridal floral tying and to collect her hand bouquet.

Me acting as if it's my own wedding. LOL!

Rushed back to Chijmes and started with the decoration from 5+pm all the way til 9pm, including rehearsing for the marching in. Did so much work that nite but had zero water to drink - my throat hurt real bad by the time everything ended that nite. Headed for dinner with Bee Ling, Stacy and Sibyl (Stacy's sister who's been an awesome help!) at Bugis fish soup place but I couldn't even swallow.. Barely ate..

This pole vault bar took 3 of us an hour plus to tie the flowers on it!

Came home, showered and slept. But woke up at 2am starting to shiver - I knew the fever came. Was so afraid that it would be HFMD once again. The pain was similar.. Couldn't help being worried. It's the day of Bingjie's wedding and we've put in so much work to make everything go well, I didn't wanna miss it for anything in the world! Woke Eeyore up at 7am to send me to 24 hour clinic to see a doctor. Thank God it wasn't HFMD!! It was pharyngitis! Phew!! Came home, slept for another hour plus and showered, put on my make up and got dressed.

Yes, the vain pot in me will still take pics of myself despite being sick..

Makeup! :)

Headed over to Chijmes and started helping out at the reception area. David kept making fun of me asking if I was going to faint, that there were doctors attending the wedding so it doesn't matter even if I faint. Haha. David has always been a quiet man with few words but I can tell he's loosening up - just like what Bingjie once told us about him. Once he warms up to people, he will talk more. I guess all the prep work and hanging out together has changed him!

And the event started! With the march in, exchange of vows led by the pastor then the march out. The music for the march in was composed by Ricky Ho - Winner for Best Original Film Score at the Golden Horse Awards in 2011! I had the honor of sitting with him and his wife, Vienna, at the same VIP table of the wedding! Vienna was soooo friendly and she kept chatting with Bee Ling and me (though I could barely talk). But she was very nice to keep getting iced water for me and taking care of me! :) Pity I forgot to take a picture with her.

The most exciting part would be to watch the guys and Bingjie pole vault. I've never seen it live (other than on tv) so it made me very interested! Hmm.. I thought I took videos of the guys crossing the height of 4.2m but seems like I forgot to take videos of that! :( But here's a video of Bingjie's last jump at 3.6m which is quite a feat for an indoor jump where she is short of at least 4 strides before the jump. Same for the guys.

And not forgetting the very cute and pretty cake! David on 1 knee waiting to catch Bingjie as she jumps over the bar. Soooo sweet!! And of coz the wonderful impromptu speech that David made at the wedding. Sooo touching! 10 years of relationship sealed in a day - a new chapter of their lives begin. They have overcome many odds to be together but I'm glad they persisted and are now happy together! :)

Such a lovely cake! :D

And the next day, their wedding was featured both on Straits Times Main Page (and Sports section) and Lianhe Zaobao!! OMG!!! See if you can spot the blurry me in the Straits Times picture. LOL!

I was feeling a little sickly halfway through the wedding.. :( But still had to get to work. The minute everything finished, we changed into shorts and t-shirts and started packing everything up! Sent the girls back and came home, crashed. Dearest Eeyore cooked me a weird but yummy dinner which I actually finished (barely ate dinner the day before, no breakfast on Sun, barely ate the lunch at the wedding). Unbelievable! Couldn't sleep due to the pain - my right side of the neck was swollen from the pharyngitis.

On medical leave on Monday. Still felt super awful. Fever kept coming on and off. I still couldn't eat. I knew this medicine wasn't working well. I had to see another doctor or get another day of medical leave at least. Went to the clinic opposite my house and saw 1 of my favorite doctors - Dr Jeremy Tan. He said it's tonsillitis plus pharyngitis combined. Gosh! The tonsillitis cause the top roof of the mouth to feel like there's a scab there and cause super bad breath. :( But at least Dr Tan gave me medication to stop the pain. Thank God for that! He tried to press on my neck as he felt the swelling and I screamed. Hence the pain medication. :) Phew!

And I'm on the road to recovery now! :) Feeling more human at long last and gonna head back to work tomorrow. The lymph node at my neck is still swollen though but there's nothing I can do about it other than it making me look fat. :( Oh well, anyway.. My sis and bro in law have been coming to look after me as well and cooking for me! LOL! Feeling the love! :)
